Details Are Winning The War For Culture In Austin

“The details are not the details. They make the design.” - Charles Eames

It is all about the details. Everyone says it but companies whose culture can be seen throughout the smallest details in their office are winners in our book. Here is a small list of some of the best details we have seen in Austin offices:

1.BigCommerce’s Lego Wall:

Whenever you were younger imagine how excited you would have been to know your job as a grown-up would involve playing with legos in an office for money. Well, BigCommerce just about accomplished that. “The employee-designed wall of giant Legos currently creates some separation between our all-hands space and the nearby desks, but also serves to give people another outlet for creative expression,” stated BigCommerce’s PR manager Rachael Genson.

2.Onnit’s Push Plates:

Founded in 2010 with an idea to make cutting-edge nutritional supplement combinations, Onnit’s office design is unlike anything you have seen. Their fully stocked break room’s entrance door is labeled “Ahhh Push It Real Good”. In addition, when a new employee joins their team, they are greeted at their desk by a 3D printed copy of their pet or their favorite meme.

3.Sparefoot’s Conference Room Names:

“SpareFoot’s co-founders and several of the early employees are sushi nuts. Four years ago, a few employees went out for sushi for a developer’s birthday and downed several rounds of sake bombs. A tradition was born – now every new SpareFoot employee gets a warm welcome of sushi and sake bombs. The SpareFoot conference rooms bring home a level of detail to show the amount of love they have of sushi with names like Unagi, Toro, and Madai.”
